Perfect place to stay if you want to be right in the heart of Stonetown.

The location in the heart of Stonetown, the heritage hotel feel. The swimming pool and onsite restaurant Friendly staff

Aircon and safe weren't working, Management was however quick to try to address the situation.

Ok but nothing special

- staff was friendly but directly demanded the tourist fee during checking in - rooms are clean but very dark

- breakfast was ok but the cats around are disgusting - please get them out of the area where the tourist are eating!!! They were jumping on the chairs and sometimes even tables and some other very intelligent tourists even started to feed them...well done !!! :( - for those who like Stone Town, this accomodtion is located right in the center, but my brother and I couldn't win anything from Stone Town at all - very dirt and filthy town ship with lts of tourist rip off places - construction site right in front of our room

Enjoyable one night stay in Stone Town.

Hotel was in a great location. Rooms were clean and comfy and staff very helpful. Good choice of cocktails and drinks. Breakfast had a reasonable selection to choose from.

Hotel was as excepted- nothing to dislike.

Central and a good nights sleep

It is super central, down a narrow street, if you get a taxi from the airport the taxi driver will park up their car and walk you to the hotel so you don’t get lost! After an hour or so, it gets easier and comfortable to navigate the interconnecting narrow streets. It felt very safe as tourists albeit you will be approached ALOT by locals trying to entice you into their shop or sell you a tour/excursion/trip which gets tiring quickly. The welcome from the staff was warm and friendly. There is a lift if you so wish. The bed were HUGE and super comfy and the A/C was very welcomed after a day in the hot humid bustling town. Breakfast is a buffet-style, there was plenty of food and options. We didn’t eat here nor use the swimming pool so can’t comment on this. As other reviews say, there is building work happening next door but when we stayed it wasn’t active so wasn’t disruptive to us.

There were some older white men clearly with local escorts milling around the hotel which was quite sad to see. The shower seals and frames could do with a proper clean as they are quite grubby.

Great hotel but noisy at night

The location was really good, in the heart of Stone Town. Great hotel, not expensive. Massai were here to help us carry the luggage and if we needed help. Breakfast buffet was good and different each day. Great room with a big comfortable bed and good bathroom, and a balcony. Beautiful hotel and breakfast/pool area.

The walls are so thin we could hear everything, it woke us up several times during the night. And the mosquito net had blood stains on it.

This shelter was wonderful from the location. We had landed on Zanzibar and wanted to have a look at the famous night market. For this the location was perfect. Everything quickly accessible. The staff was very helpful. The bar was simply super.

The breakfast was not so good. There were many flies on everything.

Good Value for Money in Zanzibar

It was a very central location. My room (308) was HUGE with a small kitchenette. Bathroom was newly renovated its seem (although Chinese construction materials). Good value for money for $55 per night.

The staff were a bit slow to process information and got confused frequently and easily especially at the front desk. While at breakfast the staff evacuated a small mouse near the pool area one morning. The wifi is also (as other reviewers mentioned) quite slow especially if there are many people and there is a large school and also a mosque directly opposite the hotel so during school breaks and prayer time very loud. View also not great. Lastly the towels are too thin and dingy - hotel should invest in new softer / thicker ones.

Clean hotel, big room and great location.

Clean hotel, big room and great location. Its very close to the Old Fort which is the meeting point for different tours.

The only annoying thing is that we had to bring the room key every single day to the reception to have it reactivated.

It would be nice if the pool could stay open later. After a full day of walking around Stone Town a cool quiet swimming pool would be nice to rest in. More hot water

Chill and peaceful

The room was clean and spacious, the pool was super nice, the staff was incredibly accommodating of our needs, it exceeded our expectations for the price

The room is not terribly cute or the decoration in the rooms is not super sophisticated.

Very nice and surprisingly private/secluded little hotel.

Very nice and surprisingly private/secluded little hotel. All the staff were very helpful and attentive. Make sure to reach out to Rama "Mpango" Khatib for any tourism needs (+255 774 114 525)

For such a new hotel, I felt the bathrooms could have been a bit nicer (our shower door was missing). But *very* minor complaint as it did not negatively impact our stay whatsoever.

Breakfast is nice and located directly next to the pool. You can order different egg variations free of charge. The pool is also nice and clean.

Staff not well informed about taxi prices- we were asking for a reasonable taxi price to take us to a market place 5km away. Staff proposed USD 20- in the end we paid 10.000TSH to the market and approximately USD 20 to get to the other side of Zanzibar. Our room had a strange smell.

Awesome price-to-performance ratio in a cozy hotel with great service.

I discovered lovely staff and a gorgeous Hotel with a lot of charm. The breakfast options were a little more than sufficient, the restaurant quite satisfactory and the details of the premises absolutely lovely. The room size is acceptable (a little bit more room would have been perfect). Location-wise the Garden Hotel is absolutely recommendable. Directly located in Stonetown we were able to walk anywhere. Mosquito net and preparation were provided. The bed was quite comfortable (not as hard as in many other places) The service was (especially for Tansania) exceptionally superb. Awesome price-to-performance ratio!

There is hardly anything to not like but I discovered that showering warm is not always given. Considering the infrastructure it`s not a big deal but those who don`t like to occasionally shower cold might want to consider it. Other than that, I had an excellent stay. Thank you!

Lovely stay, very central

This hotel was lovely, very central location, nice and clean and the restaurant food was delicious.

It was in a busy area so at times it was a little loud, bring a pair of ear plugs if you are a light sleeper but overall it’s great!
